The Denver HIV Resources Planning Council seeks new members!

The Denver HIV Resources Planning Council (DHRPC)  seeks committed individuals who would like to step up and make a positive difference in our community, including  highly motivated people living with HIV (PLHIV).

We believe in finding strength through the diverse voices of the HIV community including (but not limited to):

• PLHIV who receive or have received Ryan White services

• PLHIV who are underrepresented such as: People of Color, LatinX, and

Transgender Individuals

• Women Living with HIV

• PLHIV from the federally recognized Indian tribes of Colorado

• Youth living with HIV (18+)

• PLHIV and Hepatitis C

• PLHIV who are experiencing homelessness

• PLHIV who were previously incarcerated

New members go through an expedited on-boarding process and are required to attend training sessions, committee, general, and special council meetings. Currently, the majority of Planning Council meetings are held virtually.

Working closely with the Denver Department of Public Health & Environment’s HIV Resources Office, the Planning Council is a diverse group of PLHIV, community members, and service providers who come together to understand and represent PLHIV in Denver Metro Area.

The Planning Council has many exciting and important activities to accomplish through the year. Council members evaluate the needs of PLHIV by looking at data, hosting focus groups with populations in need, and assessing where service gaps exist. Once appointed, all Planning Council members are able to request data training support.

The Planning Council decides how much funding is allocated to HIV specific health care (think hospital visits, mental health services, and dental care), as well as support services beyond HIV-specific care (like support groups, housing, and food bank services).

The Planning Council assists in the HIV prevention and care strategic plan for all of Colorado.

Members of the Planning Council are appointed to three-year terms by the City of Denver's Mayor's Office. Applicants should be prepared to commit to 2-two hour meetings per month with additional training sessions and special meetings.

This is a volunteer position and transportation assistance, child or partner care, are may be available upon request for PLHIV.

Interested applicants are asked to submit an online application and resume at

the City of Denver's Boards and Commissions Application page  (and select HIV Planning Council).
